The vision includes establishing a learning environment for personnel from the participating agencies; and to meaningfully evaluate response and recovery capabilities.

History

DRHMAG convened in November 2006 as a Regional Pandemic Influenza Planning Group, with leadership from Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) and Wicomico County Health Department. As membership expanded and the evident theme of the meeting became All-Hazards, the group formalized with the lengthy name of the Delmarva Regional Healthcare Mutual Aid Group, a descriptive title.

In late 2007, partners requested PRMC to apply for Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) funds to support a Regional Tabletop Exercise. A contract was signed with Delta Development Group, Inc (DELTA) and in April 2008 the Tabletop Exercise was held at Salisbury University.

Since 2006, the group has met frequently to discuss current issues or planning efforts, and to collaborate on exercises. Meeting attendance grows each year, going from an average of twelve attendees in 2007 to an average of 38 attendees in 2012.

New members are constantly being added, as organizations on Delmarva become aware of the group's efforts.
